Woods-Hosted PGA Event Relocates Amid LA Wildfires

Tiger Woods-Hosted PGA Tour Event Relocated to San Diego Due to Wildfires

The 2025 Genesis Invitational, a PGA Tour event hosted by Tiger Woods, has been relocated from its usual home at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades to Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego due to the ongoing wildfires affecting the Los Angeles area. The tournament, scheduled for February 13-16, will be held on Torrey Pines’ iconic South Course and will feature initiatives to support wildfire relief efforts.

With a $20 million purse, the Genesis Invitational is a PGA Tour Signature Event that benefits Woods’ TGR Foundation. The event is expected to return to Riviera in 2026 after the situation in Los Angeles stabilizes.

“We are grateful to the City of San Diego and Torrey Pines for hosting the 2025 Genesis Invitational and to everyone who has reached out in support of the tournament,” Woods said in a statement. “While Riviera remains the home of The Genesis Invitational, we look forward to playing on another championship-caliber golf course this year and using the tournament to support those affected by the fires in the Los Angeles area.”

Woods, who is anticipated to compete in the limited-field event, has a rich history at Torrey Pines. He is an eight-time winner at the course, including his memorable 2008 U.S. Open victory in a 19-hole playoff while playing with a fractured leg. Torrey Pines also hosted the 2021 U.S. Open, where Jon Rahm claimed the title, and has been the venue for the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open since 1968.

San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria expressed pride in hosting the relocated event, emphasizing the city’s commitment to supporting its neighbors in Los Angeles. “It was an honor for the City of San Diego to raise our collective hand when given the opportunity to help our neighbors in Los Angeles as they recover from the ongoing devastating wildfires,” Gloria said. “We look forward to welcoming The Genesis Invitational in February and offer our full support to the PGA Tour.”

The Genesis Invitational will provide not only a world-class competition but also a platform to raise awareness and support for those affected by the wildfires, demonstrating the resilience and solidarity of the golf community.
