Historic Line-up of Saudi Golfers to Compete in 2024 PIF Saudi International
RIYADH: The 2024 PIF Saudi International, powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers, will feature a historic first—four Saudi Arabian players competing in the prestigious tournament at Riyadh Golf Club from December 4-7.
Othman Almulla, Faisal Salhab, Saud Al-Sharif, and Khalid Walid will represent Saudi Arabia in this groundbreaking moment for Saudi golf, alongside Golf Saudi ambassador Shergo Al-Kurdi, who competes for Jordan.
Almulla, Saudi Arabia’s first professional golfer, has been a trailblazer for the sport in the Kingdom. A former winner of the Qatar Open and the first Saudi golfer to qualify for major professional events like the Dubai Desert Classic, Almulla continues to champion golf in Saudi Arabia. “It’s an honor to compete alongside my fellow countrymen at such a prestigious event,” Almulla said. “This milestone is a testament to the growth of golf in Saudi Arabia and the bright future ahead.”
Salhab, who turned professional last year, and Attieh, who made history in 2024 by becoming the first Saudi amateur to make the cut at the International Series Oman, are part of this new wave of Saudi talent. Almulla, Salhab, and Al-Sharif are also ambassadors for Golf Saudi, working to elevate the sport in the Kingdom.
Their participation, alongside global stars like Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia, and Dustin Johnson, highlights the success of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to position the Kingdom as a global golf hub.
In addition to professional competition, the Saudi International seeks to inspire more Saudis, particularly youth, to take up golf. Through its Go Golf initiative, Golf Saudi offers new golfers three months of free lessons, 12 complimentary rounds, and discounted memberships to make the sport more accessible and foster a thriving golf community in the Kingdom.
