Preston Forward Milutin Osmajic Charged by FA for Alleged Racist Comment

Preston North End striker Milutin Osmajic has been officially charged by the Football Association (FA) following accusations of making a racist remark towards Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri during their Championship match last month.

The alleged incident took place during a closely contested 0-0 draw at Deepdale on February 15. Mejbri immediately reported the incident to match officials, indicating that Osmajic had directed racially offensive language toward him during the game.

In their formal charge released on Monday, the FA stated that Osmajic allegedly acted improperly and used “abusive and/or insulting words” aimed at an opposing player. The association further categorized the incident as an “aggravated breach,” highlighting that the comments in question referenced Mejbri’s race or skin color.

Responding to the charges, Preston North End issued a statement acknowledging the allegations and emphasizing that they would refrain from further comments until the FA concludes its investigation. However, the club clarified Osmajic’s stance, affirming that the Montenegro international firmly denies using any racially abusive language.

“Milutin continues to strongly deny allegations of using abusive language related to race or color,” Preston’s statement read. The club confirmed that Osmajic plans to officially respond to the FA charges within the allotted timeframe.

The 25-year-old forward has been given until March 25 to submit his official response to the Football Association.
