Chiefs activate roster window for WR Hollywood Brown, K Harrison Butker

The Kansas City Chiefs have opened the 21-day practice windows for wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and kicker Harrison Butker, signaling their potential return to action in the coming weeks.

Brown, 27, has been on injured reserve since September 13 after suffering a sternoclavicular joint injury during the preseason. He signed a one-year, $7 million contract with the Chiefs in March, after previously playing three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens (2019-2021) and two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals (2022-2023). Over his career, Brown has accumulated 313 receptions for 3,644 yards and 28 touchdowns in 72 games (65 starts). His standout performance came in 2021, when he posted a 1,000-yard season with the Ravens. Brown’s return would add depth to a Chiefs receiving corps that already features standout players, helping to boost the offense as the Chiefs push for another playoff run.

Butker, 29, has been sidelined since the Chiefs’ 16-14 home victory over the Denver Broncos on November 10 due to a left knee injury. Following surgery, Butker was placed on injured reserve on November 14. Despite the injury, the three-time Super Bowl champion kicker has been efficient this season, converting 18 of 20 field-goal attempts, with a long of 53 yards, and making 21 of 22 extra-point attempts. For his career, Butker has an impressive conversion rate of 89.2% on field goals and 94.6% on extra points. He is just 25 points away from becoming the third player in franchise history to reach 1,000 career points.

The Chiefs, currently holding a 12-1 record, are looking to make a strong push for the postseason. With three of their remaining four regular-season games on the road, their next challenge comes Sunday in a matchup against the Cleveland Browns (3-10). The return of Brown and Butker would provide a significant boost to the Chiefs’ chances as they continue their quest for another Super Bowl title.
