Anthony Davis, Lakers hand Wizards 11th straight loss

Anthony Davis, LeBron James Lead Lakers to Big Win Over Wizards

Anthony Davis delivered a dominant performance with 29 points, 16 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks to power the Los Angeles Lakers to a 111-88 victory over the visiting Washington Wizards on Tuesday night. The win marked the Lakers’ largest margin of victory this season.

LeBron James notched his ninth triple-double of the season and the 121st of his career, contributing 21 points, 13 assists, and 10 rebounds. Key support came from Austin Reaves and reserve Dorian Finney-Smith, who each scored 16 points. Reaves added eight assists, while Finney-Smith shot 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.

The Lakers, who have struggled recently with just three wins in their last seven games, shot 47.8% from the field and 32.4% from three-point range. The defensive effort was also strong, holding the Wizards to just 35.8% shooting and an icy 25.6% from deep.

Washington’s Bilal Coulibaly led his team with 17 points, while Jordan Poole and Corey Kispert each contributed 15 points. Kyle Kuzma had a balanced game with 12 points, nine rebounds, and five assists, and Alex Sarr added 10 points, six boards, and five blocks. However, the Wizards suffered their 11th consecutive loss, falling to a dismal 1-18 on the road and owning the NBA’s worst record at 6-28.

The Lakers broke the game open in the fourth quarter. Leading by nine, Los Angeles surged with an 8-0 run, capped by a dunk and a three-pointer from Finney-Smith, to stretch the lead to 97-80. Despite a brief Wizards rally, they went scoreless over the final 5:18, allowing the Lakers to close on a 10-0 run.

LeBron’s triple-double was finalized with a rebound late in the game, after which he signaled for a timeout and exited to applause. Davis and James had set the tone early, combining for 33 first-half points as the Lakers took a 59-49 lead into halftime.

The third quarter saw Los Angeles extend the advantage to 73-55 behind a 14-6 run, fueled by James. Coulibaly’s effort kept the Wizards within reach, but Gabe Vincent’s buzzer-beating three-pointer gave the Lakers a 12-point cushion entering the final frame.

The Lakers now look to build on this momentum as the Wizards continue to seek answers in a historically challenging season.
