Jamal Adams Set to Make Lions Debut Against Packers

Lions Elevate Jamal Adams to Game-Day Roster for Packers Clash

December 6 – The Detroit Lions have elevated former All-Pro safety Jamal Adams to their game-day roster ahead of Thursday’s matchup against NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers. Adams, who joined the Lions’ practice squad as a free agent on Sunday, will make his debut for Detroit as they look to extend their strong 11-1 record.

The 29-year-old safety started the season with the Tennessee Titans after being signed in July but was released at his own request in mid-October. Adams, a former first-round pick (6th overall) by the New York Jets in the 2017 NFL Draft, has had a storied career, including a trade to Seattle in 2020, where he played for four seasons before his release due to injuries. Despite limited action with the Seahawks, Adams has been a standout throughout his career, earning three Pro Bowl selections and a First-Team All-Pro nod in 2019.

In 83 career games (81 starts), Adams has accumulated 498 tackles, four interceptions, 36 passes defended, seven forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries. He also recorded one interception returned for a touchdown.

In other roster news, the Lions have also elevated outside linebacker Mitchell Agude to the game-day roster and signed wide receiver Maurice Alexander from the practice squad to replace injured return man Kalif Raymond (IR). However, four injured starters – offensive tackle Taylor Decker (knee), and defensive linemen DJ Reader (shoulder), Josh Paschal (knee), and Levi Onwuzurike (hamstring) – will be inactive for Thursday’s game.

The Packers’ inactive list includes cornerbacks Jaire Alexander (knee) and Corey Ballentine (knee), linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (hamstring), offensive lineman Jacob Monk, and wide receiver Romeo Doubs (concussion).

Detroit faces Green Bay (9-3) in a critical division battle tonight, looking to secure another key win for their playoff push.
