Chiefs Coach Andy Reid Expresses Gratitude for Super Success

Andy Reid Reflects on Longevity, Grateful for Continued Success Ahead of Super Bowl LIX

As Andy Reid prepares the Kansas City Chiefs for their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance, he acknowledges that longevity has been a key factor in his sustained success. With nearly three decades of NFL coaching experience, Reid finds himself reflecting on the passage of time—especially when seeing familiar family names on the opposing sideline.

During Tuesday’s media availability, held at the Marriott, Reid couldn’t help but chuckle when discussing one particular connection to his past.

“It just means I’m old,” Reid joked when asked about Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr., the son of Jeremiah Trotter, a former standout linebacker Reid coached during his tenure with the Eagles.

“Jeremiah Trotter was one of my favorite players. Now, Jeremiah Jr. is wearing the same number (54) and doing a great job transitioning from Clemson to the Eagles,” Reid added.

This Super Bowl LIX matchup will mark the second time Reid faces his former team on the NFL’s biggest stage.

Respect for Philadelphia, Love for Kansas City

Despite his deep-rooted ties to Philadelphia, Reid made it clear where his heart lies.

“I have a ton of respect for the people over there and how they run things, the city of Philadelphia,” Reid said. “But at the same time, I’m very happy to be in Kansas City. I’m grateful for the opportunity the Chiefs gave me.”

With the Chiefs chasing an unprecedented three-peat, there’s been plenty of talk surrounding NFL dynasty status, but Reid has steered his team’s focus away from history and toward the challenge ahead.

“It’s unique, really unique to be in this position twice,” he admitted. “But from my standpoint, I feel very lucky, honored, and privileged. That said, we’re not done yet. We’re going to have our hands full with a really good Eagles team.”

The Chiefs’ Winning Formula: Leadership and Reid’s Influence

Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes have been a dominant playoff duo, amassing a 17-3 postseason record together. While Reid credits his coaching staff and locker room leaders for keeping Kansas City hungry and focused, the players point right back at Reid as the driving force behind their sustained excellence.

“To me, it starts with Coach Reid—he sets the tone,” Mahomes said. “It’s awesome to be in the Super Bowl, but we have to put in the work every single day.”

The Chiefs will continue preparations from Wednesday through Friday, gearing up for Super Bowl LIX on Sunday night, where Reid will once again square off against his former franchise in what promises to be another thrilling showdown.

With Reid’s leadership, Mahomes’ brilliance, and a team hungry for history, the Kansas City Chiefs are on the verge of something truly special.
